Frequently asked questions
Does certifying a photo publish it anywhere?
No. Certification only submits the image's hash for timestamping; the photo itself is not published on-chain or made public by the certification process.
Will a certificate help with a DMCA takedown?
It can strengthen a takedown request by providing independently verifiable evidence of when your version of the image existed, alongside the other information a takedown notice typically requires.
Does editing a RAW file into a JPEG break the timestamp?
Certify the specific exported version you're going to publish or deliver—since hashing is sensitive to file format and compression, the RAW file and its JPEG export will have different hashes and need to be certified separately if you want evidence for both.
